A boutique financial services firm is searching for a Group Finance and Consolidation Manager to join them in Malta. You will lead and manage the finance function, report to the Group CFO and CEO, oversee financial operations, consolidate reporting, manage teams, and provide strategic financial support. The role requires expertise in consolidated reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and team leadership, along with the ability to create meaningful management reports from various data sources. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage the local finance function, ensuring adherence to deadlines and high-quality financial operations.
  • Oversee bookkeeping, sales and expense management activities.
  • Work with finance team from the wider group to deliver tasks set by the wider group.
  • Gather data from various sources and prepare consolidated statutory and management reports.
  • Create meaningful management reports with KPI’s to support strategic decision-making.
  • Develop and manage budgets and forecasts for individual entities and consolidated reporting.
  • Reporting of cash flows for entities and reporting group capital requirements.
  • Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts and reports.
  • Coordinate with Auditors for audits and other engagements.
  • Ensure statutory and regulatory reporting, utilising 3rd party vendors when necessary.
  • Development of a system to monitor profitability by products and by sales managers by individual entity.
  • Consolidation of individual entity performance data to be reported at group level.
  • Development of a process to redistribute revenues due to sales managers across entities.
  • Overseeing statutory and regulatory reporting including but not limited to the Company’s ICARA, MIFID Return and other MFSA returns, Central Bank Returns.
  • Monitoring and internal reporting of the firm’s regulatory capital and liquidity position.
  • Liaising with the regulator where necessary.
  • Manage the company's banking and counterparty relationships.
  • Oversee operating cash accounts, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Supervise liquidity management and foreign exchange operations.
  • Debtor/Creditor management and reporting.
  • Provide financial management and support to achieve business financial goals.
  • Manage departmental budgets, forecasts, and reporting on both individual entities and a consolidated basis.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Presentation of key financial information in board meetings.
  • Ensuring adherence to good financial governance.
  • Manage corporate tax compliance and oversee VAT returns for the Company and the wider group.
  • Knowledge and understanding of VAT partial attribution principles.
  • Ensure adherence to remuneration principles and payroll.
  • Tax optimisation and consideration of transfer pricing issues.
  • Collaborate with business teams to maximize profits and drive financial transparency.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Manage members of the group finance team, including their professional development.
  • Establish and maintain controls to minimize risks of fraud and error.
  • Monitor internal and external audit recommendations related to finance.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • Qualified accountant with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience.
  • Excellent technical understanding of IFRS.
  • Prior experience of consolidated accounting is essential.
  • Knowledge of Maltese tax and VAT framework.
  • Fluent English
  • Must be an excellent communicator with prior management experience.
  • Must have excellent IT skills and demonstrate the ability to automate and simplify processes through the use of software and technology.
