On behalf of our client, a Payments Solutions Comapny based in Limassol, GRS Recruitment are looking for a Head of Payment to take full ownership of the payment function from the ground up. The ideal candidate will be responsible for defining the payment strategy for specialized online merchants, ensuring operational excellence, and building the team that will scale the business. This is a founding leadership role in every meaningful sense. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Build and manage strategic partnerships with banks, PSPs, and acquirers capable of handling high-complexity, regulated verticals. Lead commercial negotiations to ensure competitive pricing and settlement terms.
  • Translate specialized merchant requirements such as high success rates and chargeback mitigation—into scalable product requirements. Drive API integrations and production launches with the engineering team.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, including success rate monitoring and intelligent routing. Conduct full audits of payment and wallet flows to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Build and implement core operational SOPs from scratch, including Merchant Onboarding, Reconciliation, and Incident Management.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • 8+ years of experience in payments or fintech, with a proven track record in high-complexity financial services or specialized online markets.
  • Deep understanding of global payment rails (cards, bank transfers, e-wallets) and cross-border payment flows.
  • Experience building and scaling payment infrastructure for regulated merchants, including navigating PSP restrictions and managing settlement risk.
  • Strong existing network of bank and PSP connections across key markets (Asia, Europe, Middle East).
  • Involvement in regulatory licence applications or renewals (e.g., CySEC, FCA, or equivalent).
  • Preferred: Experience as a CO & MLRO and CAMS certification.
