Malta’s largest legal firm is looking for a Junior Lawyer to strengthen their legal team in Malta. The main purpose of this role is to provide support within the Private Clients Practice in advising and assisting private clients on legal, tax and immigration matters and writing legal content for Firm’s internal and external platforms, together with providing legal support by advising on any legal and tax developments relevant to the work within the departments. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Law and experience in Tax is highly advantageous. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage the onboarding process for private clients.
  • Advise clients on the suitable solutions according to their individual scenarios
  • Give assistance to HNWIs with relocation to Malta, client relationship and risk management within the firm and coordination of clients’ other legal and tax queries with different practice groups
  • Assist clients with registration procedures and annual obligations including tax return preparation and compliance documentation submission where applicable
  • Liaise with local immigration and tax authorities, on behalf of clients
  • Collect and prepare tax residence certificate applications
  • Update the company database with all the records relating to requests, updating interactions, as per company procedures
  • Assist with the preparation of reports and projects as required
  • Develop required product knowledge for the programmes offered by the Firm & keeping up to date with any amendments and informing the relevant stakeholders accordingly.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • Law degree
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook/Office, CRM, database and information systems
  • Experience in a professional legal environment
  • Previous tax experience considered an asset
  • A pro-active approach
  • Experience in dealing with foreign clients
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership skills
  • Mature and independent
