A global payments solutions company is looking for a System Administrator to join their team in Malta. You will be tasked with providing expert technical support encompassing the installation, configuration, upgrades, maintenance, and connectivity of our physical premises, and both private and public cloud infrastructures. The ideal candidate will have an IT-related degree and 2 to 3 years System Admin experience. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Deliver technical support encompassing installation, configuration, upgrades, maintenance, cabling, connectivity, and hardware/software repairs.
  • Install, support, and maintain data centres and networks according to PA-DSS/PCI Standards on both Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure Cloud infrastructure.
  • Oversee and manage network security tools, such as firewalls, anti-virus software, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Diagnose, address, and document network connectivity and performance issues.
  • Support VOIP telephones and other network-connected telecommunication devices.
  • Ensure all software is patched, updated, and aligned with the latest releases.
  • Manage network hardware, including UTMs and switches.
  • Regulate user access to sensitive files to bolster internal security.
  • Oversee secure links with public key encryption for VPNs, and monitor IT security incidents and violations.
  • Update and refine hardware, software, and process documentation.
  • Offer tiered support (first, second, and third line) to internal users.
  • Monitor and manage Sysadmin projects using the company’s issue tracking software.
  • Execute regular backups per the organization’s disaster recovery plans and initiate recovery procedures when required.
  • Work closely with the ITSEC department, providing evidence for all audits, including PCI, ISO, and client-specific audits.
  • Meet defined SLAs in reliability, availability, and serviceability for all customers.
  • Coordinate with software, hardware, and cloud providers to ensure optimal technical service delivery.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Services Department for system deployment on various cloud platforms.
  • Engage in research and planning of scalable systems.
  • Demonstrate interest in databases and software implementation, collaborating with relevant teams.
  • Uphold high standards of work and service.
  • Undertake other duties as periodically assigned.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  •  A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
  • Recognized systems/network administration certifications are an advantage.
  • 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience in Systems Administration.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing both Unix/Linux and Microsoft Windows platforms.
  • Comprehensive understanding of IT infrastructure, Information Systems applications, and the methodologies related to business continuity and disaster recovery.
  • Amazon AWS certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity with JIRA for issue and project management, as well as Confluence for team collaboration, is desirable.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure, willing to work extended hours and be available on-call.
  • Excellent communication skills with proficiency in both written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts, including subnetting, TCP/IP addressing, and VLANs.
  • Solid understanding of network security principles, especially IPSEC VPNs.
  • Proficient in Active Directory
