On behalf of our client, a global financial institution which is fully regulated by the MFSA, GRS is looking for a relationship manager to join their team in Malta. You will be responsible for running the Malta business focus development and be an advocate in developing the corporate strategy through the acquisition of Malta based corporate clients and providing them with the different services of the bank within the bank’s product and risk frameworks. In addition, you will also be responsible for developing new or modifying existing products in line with market requirements as well as running the business and be responsible for its full revenue, drivers and cross sell budgets. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years’ corporate banking experience within the Maltese & International market: direct client management, lending, credit support, or similar industry related experience specifically targeting commercial loans. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Business development effort within the Maltese market
  • Support the development of credit approval documents including full review of company background, financials, financial analysis, solution structuring and documentation, analysing risks
  • Assist with the end-to-end implementation of a deal which includes onboarding, coordination with different areas of the bank, documentation and security
  • Coordinate the planning the portfolio growth through the development of a business plan in alignment with the department budget and consistent with the overall bank asset / liability management objectives
  • Develop and maintain the relationships with contacts / customers to maintain and expand business for a business pipeline and customer database
  • Cross selling of all services
  • Pre-qualification, structuring and pricing of all facilities in his/her designated areas
  • Ensure safe running of the client facility and adherence to all compliance and regulatory control requirements.  Follow-up on exceptions to ensure timely clearing and implement prompt corrective action in line with policy, teamwork and guidelines
  • Review facilities performance and profitability analysis and outlines strategies to ensure optimal portfolio profitability
  • Coordinate with various stakeholders and departments in servicing routine transactions, portfolio maintenance and solving customer queries, including follow-up of transactions (disbursement and settlements), customer onboarding, reviews, facility letters, etc
  • Stay abreast of industry, competition, financial markets and other changes that may impact their portfolio or department
  • Contribute to positive team spirit within the department and other colleagues
  • Embrace targets and guidelines provided by the management; and ensure documentation is orderly kept and compliance with all regulatory and group policies
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • A professional qualification preferably in Banking or Finance
  • At least 5 years’ corporate banking experience within the Maltese & International market: direct client management, lending, credit support, or similar industry related experience specifically targeting commercial loans
  • Deep understanding of the Maltese & International corporate market and able to originate a strong client base
  • Proficiency in credit underwriting fundamentals and prior credit experience analysis including full financial and credit analysis. Formal credit training preferred
  • Excellent product (local corporate) knowledge with the ability to support the Company in its market positioning efforts, whilst contributing to adjusting our local framework with full awareness to inherent risk and potential reward balance;
  • Strong relationship skills and able to build a profitable and safe portfolio from ground up
  • a pro-active approach and strong communication skills to convey the banks strength, ideas and information effectively to a wide range of diverse audiences
  • Full knowledge of all lending and banking products such as Term Lending, RCF, Project Finance and FX as well as all working knowledge of compliance regulations
  • Knowledge of trade finance products and working capital facilities
  • Capability of working effectively in a team environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work independently on origination and closure end to end including Credit analysis, credit application completion, documentation supervision and closure
  • the willingness and ability to work on a hands-on basis end to end to bring a deal to closure and careful management of the relationship
  • Ability to partner well, i.e. maintain solid positive and productive internal relations with support functions, credit executives, senior management, middle-office and legal etc
  • Experience to hit the ground running
  • Work effectively under pressure and to achieve set targets
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Maltese
