A leading law firm specialising in financial services & international business are looking for a Senior Accountant to join their fantastic Accounting & Tax Compliance Team in Malta. You will form part of a small and well-prepared accounting team of four individuals, and you’ll focus on a portfolio of international clients operating in various industries. The ideal candidate will be fully ACCA qualified and possess three to five years of experience in client accounting. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Providing client bookkeeping and accounting services to a portfolio of fiduciary and corporate clients
  • Liaising with clients and handling various requests in a timely manner
  • Liaising with the clients’ auditors
  • Preparation and filing of client entity financial statements, VAT returns and company income tax returns, as applicable
  • Reconciling general and subsidiary bank accounts by gathering and balancing information
  • Providing financial status information by providing reports
  • Reviewing the Accounting & Tax Compliance team members’ work for accuracy and compliance
  • Mentoring Junior Accountants and Accounts Executives and providing guidance to the Accounting & Tax Compliance team
  • Assisting in overseeing all aspects of the financial and accounting functions of the Accounting & Tax Compliance department
  • Ensuring that deadlines are met
  • Staying abreast of regulatory changes
  • Recommending improvements in processes and workflows
  • Performing other tasks as may be delegated by the Directors from time to time
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • ACCA qualified or in possession of a university degree in Accounting
  • Three to five years’ relevant work experience in client accounting in the Corporate or Financial Services industries
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Knowledge of accounting software, such as Sage, would be considered an advantage
  • Strong communication skills, with fluency in both written and spoken English
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines
  • An eye for detail and accuracy
