We are seeking a Senior Lawyer with strong expertise in the payments, fintech, or EMI sector. This role offers a mix of regulatory advisory, commercial contracting, corporate support, and strategic legal guidance. You will be part of a collaborative Legal team, supporting ambitious business growth while ensuring compliance and managing risk.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Regulatory & Financial Services Advice

Provide expert legal advice on EMIs, payment services, e-money, AML, safeguarding, consumer protection, data privacy, and outsourcing.

Help the business interpret and implement regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.

Advise on new products, services, and strategic initiatives from a legal perspective.

Monitor legal and regulatory developments in fintech and payments and provide timely guidance.
Commercial Contracts
-
Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide range of commercial agreements, including customer agreements, vendor contracts, partnership deals, NDAs, and software or technology agreements.

Ensure all contracts comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
Corporate & Strategic Support
-
Advise on corporate governance, board resolutions, intra-group arrangements, and strategic transactions.

Assist with licensing, regulatory submissions, and responses to supervisory queries.

Support mergers, acquisitions, and investment transactions as needed.
Risk Management & Internal Advisory
-
Identify legal risks and provide practical, solution-focused recommendations.

Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, Product, Operations, and senior management to address legal challenges.

Improve internal legal templates, policies, and processes.

Deliver training to internal teams on key legal and regulatory matters.
Disputes & External Counsel Management

Support dispute resolution, complaints handling, and pre-litigation matters.

Manage external counsel efficiently and ensure cost-effective use of specialist legal support.
CANDIDATE PROFILE

3–5+ years post-qualification experience, ideally combining law firm and in-house experience.

Strong background in financial services, fintech, payments, or EMI-related legal work.

Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts.

Solid understanding of legal frameworks applicable to EMIs and payment institutions.

Familiarity with cross-border legal and regulatory issues is a plus.
