A top 10 global Accounting and Audit firm has launched a new department and is searching for a Technical Accountant to join them in Malta. You will join the Quality and Technical department and initially have primary focus on technical research and updates related to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), GAPSME and International Standards on Auditing. You will also focus on technical accounting and auditing issues impacting the financial services, gaming and local audit clusters. The ideal person will be fully ACCA qualified and have 2 years’ experience in a similar role, or 4 years’ experience in an audit and accounting firm.  If you are looking for a specialized role, GRS look forward to receiving your CV for this Malta based Technical Accountant role.
 
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Advise engagement teams as well as clients in the areas of IFRS implementation, financial reporting and disclosure requirements, application of accounting standards to addressing complex accounting issues in financial statements
  • Keep abreast with global and national business, accounting, financial reporting and auditing issues and trends
  • Research current, updates and new IFRSs and related accounting requirements and ISAs;
  • Prepare and deliver in house training courses, workshops and seminars;
  • Prepare research on complex accounting issues and transactions and prepare technical consultation papers
  • Act as a specialist support consultant to the firm’s audit, accounting and advisory teams as required
  • Proactively develop effective professional relationships with both internal stakeholders and external clients
  • Prepare news items and articles for the firms website and other social media channels.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • Fully qualified accountant
  • Has 2 years prior experience in a similar role, or 4 years prior experience in an audit and accounting firm
  • Has good knowledge of accounting and auditing standards and an excellent understanding of the main elements of financial statements, and financial reporting
  • Preferably has a good level of knowledge of regulatory requirements (corporate, financial services and / or gaming) as well as an understanding of corporate tax concepts
  • Has excellent briefing, report writing and presentation skills
  • Is skilled in the use the Office productivity suite and relevant IT software
  • Is passionate about technical concepts underlying the accounting and auditing profession;
  • Is a self starter and can deliver quality analysis with minimal direction and supervision.
