A leading international marine insurance company acknowledged as leaders in their chosen markets, are working with GRS to recruit an Underwriting Executive, for their Limassol operation. The successful candidate will have previous experience in the maritime or insurance industry with an interest in expanding your learning.. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintaining the companies underwriting process ensuring appropriate skills and resources are always in place.
  • Ensuring the accuracy and maintenance of the underwriting quality system (including authority levels) and that the annual programme of audits is carried out and recommendations implemented.
  • Managing the spread and balance of Membership in line with Business Plan objectives, in association with the CEOs and CUOs.
  • Ensuring that the link between underwriting and loss prevention is maintained and developed both to ensure that loss prevention input into underwriting is optimised and vice versa.
  • Responsible for annual review of underwriting guidelines - in association with the CUO.
  • Promoting the Club.
  • Developing long-term relationships and in-depth knowledge of the insurance brokers and local shipping community in Cyprus, and other neighbouring countries as agreed.
  • Providing some claims handling services as required, with assistance from claims teams in Greece and London.
 
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • Experience working in either shipping or the insurance sector.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills.
  • Good command of English language, if not the first language.
  • Ability to develop good working relationships across all levels of seniority.
  • Able to operate effectively within a team environment.
  • A strong personal drive to succeed.
  • Ability to negotiate.
  • Effective at working under pressure and balancing competing workload demands.
  • Preferably, a related insurance qualification (or part qualification) e.g. Institute Chartered Shipbrokers exams
