On behalf of our client, a highly respected and long-established group within the Hospitality sector, GRS Recruitment is seeking to recruit a Chief Design Officer to join their executive leadership team in Cyprus. The organisation has built an exceptional reputation for quality, innovation, and operational excellence, with a strong portfolio of hospitality developments and a long-term vision focused on sustainable growth and premium guest experiences.
This is a rare opportunity for an accomplished design executive to lead the Group’s Design Studio and oversee the strategic direction of architectural, interior design, technical, and development projects across the organisation. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the Group’s design identity, ensuring the successful execution of hotel development and refurbishment projects, and driving commercially effective and operationally sustainable design solutions.
As a member of the Executive Team, the Chief Design Officer will contribute to strategic decision-making and support the continued expansion and operational success of the Group.
 
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the Group’s Design Studio and oversee internal and external multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Develop, implement, and safeguard architectural, interior design, FF&E, and technical specification standards across the Group.
  • Oversee hotel development, refurbishment, remodelling, and technical advisory projects.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary hotel design processes including architecture, engineering, landscape architecture, lighting, acoustics, fire and life safety engineering, and construction documentation.
  • Manage permitting processes, statutory compliance, technical approvals, and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive innovative, sustainable, and operationally effective design solutions aligned with the Group’s brand standards and commercial objectives.
  • Lead the preparation and implementation of technical specifications, construction methodologies, and project documentation.
  • Provide technical expertise on feasibility studies, land planning, hotel development opportunities, and operational functionality.
  • Manage consultants, technical advisors, project resources, budgets, timelines, and project delivery milestones.
  • Support procurement processes relating to construction materials, FF&E, and décor specifications.
  • Contribute to long-term strategic planning, operational excellence, and future development initiatives across the Group.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in a senior leadership role within architecture, hospitality design, or property development.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing large-scale complex projects.
  • Strong understanding of technical specifications, permitting, statutory compliance, and construction processes.
  • Strong commercial awareness and strategic planning capabilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership and executive-level decision-making experience.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
  • Experience within hospitality developments or luxury projects will be considered a significant advantage.
