On behalf of our client a financial compliance unit specializing in all legal compliance matters GRS are recruiting a Court Litigation Manager for their offices in Malta. The ideal candidate will warranted and have practiced in court for at least 3 years, with a good understanding of money laundering laws If you feel you have the necessary skills and experience, GRS look forward to receiving your CV for this Malta based Court Litigation Manager role.
 
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage the Court Litigation team within the Enforcement Section
  • Lead the initiation and/or conduct of any court-related procedures which may become necessary or are otherwise required within the context of the enforcement process of the unit
  • Lead the drafting, preparation and filing of any judicial acts and related documents as may become necessary within the context of any such court related proceedings
  • Supervising and reviewing any work carried out by the team being managed
  • Liaising and coordinating with the s external lawyers in relation to any such court related procedures
  • Liaising with other units and sections within the unit and its Agents to collect data, documentation, and information necessary for the purposes of court related proceedings
  • Attending on behalf of and representing the unit in any court sittings
  • Keep the publication notices updated with Appeals Notices and Decisions
  • Coordinate external legal fees as necessary
  • Assist any internal officer, employee or agent who may have to attend for whatever purpose any court sittings
  • Coordinate available resources and officials in a way to maximize the team’s efficiency
  • Provide officials with the team enough guidance, support, leadership, and direction necessary to ensure that they can reach their targets
  • Evaluate, review and assess the team’s operations, and report on such matters when asked to do so
  • Participating in Compliance Monitoring Committees as necessary
  • Keep the Head of Section and other Superiors up to date with plans, actions and work done by the team being managed
  • Assist the Head, and/or Senior Manager in any ad-hoc projects/assignments which may arise during the year
  • Carry out performance appraisals and one-to-one meetings as may be required from time to time with team members
  • When required, representing the unit in international fora
  • Fulfil any other duties delegated by the Director, Deputy Director and Head of Section
  • Attend internal management meetings, external meetings and participate in interviews as required
  • Suggest any training programmes relevant to the Enforcement Section
  • Report to the Director, Deputy Director, Head, Senior Manager and Manager; and
  • Carry out any other duties that may be assigned by the Director, Deputy Director, Head, Senior Manager and Manager.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • LL.D. or M.Adv. Degree or an equivalent academic qualification in law at NQF7 or better
  • Warrant or registration to practice as an advocate in Malta
  • Applicants should have practiced in court for a minimum of three years
  • Good understanding of the laws that govern the prevention of money laundering and
  • funding of terrorism in Malta and the international standards and EU legislation in the area
  • Sound knowledge of the relevant EU Directives and related local legislation that govern the financial, gaming, and other regulated sectors
  • Familiarity with the operations of the above-mentioned sectors
  • Experience in applying anti-money laundering and counter-funding of terrorism legislation would be considered as an asset
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills in Maltese and English
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and office automation tools.
