GRS Recruitment is working with an established firm based in Limassol. As part of the continued growth of the business, our client is looking to recruit an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join their finance team. This is a hands-on role with responsibility for the day-to-day accounting activities across a number of entities within the Group. The successful candidate will have exposure to multiple companies, currencies and business activities and will play an important role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all transactional accounting and bookkeeping activities, while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all general ledger accounts. The role will also involve working closely with internal stakeholders, external accountants and auditors, as well as supporting VAT, year-end and tax reporting requirements.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage day-to-day accounting activities across multiple entities within the Group.
  • Raise sales invoices and process purchase invoices, ensuring appropriate approvals and coding.
  • Post purchase invoices to the relevant entities, departments and cost centres.
  • Review invoices and supporting documentation, including receipts and expense recharges.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly accounts receivable and accounts payable reports.
  • Follow up with internal stakeholders regarding outstanding invoice approvals and payments.
  • Process and prepare payments for authorisation, ensuring supporting invoices and documentation are provided.
  • Post all bank transactions, payments and receipts and complete monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Post credit card transactions and ensure appropriate cost allocations.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations and schedules.
  • Prepare and post monthly journals, including accruals, provisions, prepayments and other adjustments.
  • Assist with the preparation of accurate monthly management accounts and supporting analysis.
  • Monitor and reconcile intercompany transactions and prepare recharge invoices across the Group.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements.
  • Prepare quarterly VAT returns and supporting workings, including multi-currency calculations where required.
  • Assist with year-end accounts, tax reporting and audit requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records relating to investments, including monthly adjustments for realised and unrealised investment gains/losses.
  • Monitor quarterly investment activity and ensure appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Prepare and maintain stock and cost schedules where required.
  • Review stock movements and investigate discrepancies.
  • Process ad-hoc payments and accounting entries as required.
  • Respond to accounting queries from internal stakeholders, suppliers and other external contacts.
  • Provide financial information and reports as requested by management.
  • Assist with other accounting projects and ad-hoc finance requirements.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
 
The ideal candidate will be an experienced accountant with strong hands-on accounting skills and excellent attention to detail.
You will ideally have:
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years' experience in a similar accounting role.
  • Strong knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and accounting principles.
  • Proven experience with bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations and month-end processes.
  • Experience preparing monthly management accounts and financial analysis.
  • Experience with VAT returns and supporting VAT calculations.
  • Good understanding of accruals, prepayments, provisions and journal entries.
  • Experience working with multiple entities and/or within a Group structure.
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
  • Experience with Sage would be highly advantageous.
  • Exposure to multi-currency accounting would be beneficial.
  • Experience within wealth management, investment management, financial services or a professional services environment would be an advantage.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to liaise with colleagues, management and external stakeholders.
  • High levels of discretion when dealing with confidential financial and client information.
