Our client, a comprehensive management services provider covering areas such as company formation, corporate secretarial, accounting, tax, trustee, marine, and aviation services, is currently seeking a Head of Compliance to join their dynamic team in Malta.
This role offers guidance on regulatory compliance, AML/CFT, and risk management for the TCSP business, ensuring colleagues adhere to relevant laws and policies. Additionally, you'll serve as the Money Laundering Reporting Office and Compliance Officer. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the compliance team in Malta and manage a team of two
  • Act as the money laundering reporting officer and compliance officer for all company’s entities in Malta
  • Ensure accurate compliance reporting to regulators and to the Group within specified timeframes
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory authorities and law enforcement
  • Act as the primary contact for the Compliance team
  • Provide compliance guidance to the board of directors and colleagues
  • Handle third-party claims and insurance reporting
  • Foster a "compliance culture" within the organization
  • Participate in ongoing compliance training programs
  • Manage specific controls and maintain registers relating to high-risk areas
  • Oversee compliance monitoring reviews and report findings to relevant committees
  • Provide regular compliance updates and reports to the Risk Committee and board
  • Monitor regulatory developments, focusing on trust and corporate service providers
  • Review and update local compliance policies and procedures as needed
  • Represent the company at external events and conferences
  • Promote unity and a culture of compliance within the organization
  • Undertake other compliance-related duties
As Head of Compliance you will also:
  • Manage complex requirements and support first and second lines of defence
  • Assist in client onboarding and status changes, including vetting files and obtaining CDD/KYC documents
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and acts, such as the Company Service Providers Act
  • Provide compliance advice to colleagues, act as the first point of contact for compliance matters, and oversee team performance in the second line of defence
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • At least 8 years relevant experience (senior) within the corporate, trust or financial services industry
  • Solid first degree in a business subject and post-graduate training in compliance, risk and regulatory matters
  • Knowledge of relevant Maltese and EU legislation
  • Proven management skills with a track record of exceeding targets
  • Strong team-player with experience of working in a dynamic organisation and able to build bridges between the different stakeholders within the organisation
  • Leadership skills and ability to effectively oversee the compliance team and its smooth running
  • Hands-on and attention to detail. Also a positive attitude towards solving problems and capabilities to mentoring and training own team
  • Strong communication and persuasive skills; collaborative and a team player
  • Ability to think outside of the box, to challenge status quo, but to do so diplomatically and in a collaborative manner
  • Culturally sensitive and experienced in dealing with multiple nationalities and business cultures
  • Ability to deal with change and to take initiative
