GRS Recruitment is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a leading international technology organisation that is driving digital transformation. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Head of Enterprise Architecture to lead the architectural vision behind a major cloud-first transformation programme. You'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of a next-generation digital platform, helping to modernise legacy systems while creating scalable, secure and data-driven solutions that will support business growth for years to come. If you're a strategic thinker who enjoys solving complex challenges, influencing senior stakeholders, and building architecture that enables innovation rather than slowing it down, we'd love to hear from you.
As Head of Enterprise Architecture, you will define, govern and evolve the enterprise architecture strategy across business, application, data, integration, cloud, platform and security domains.Acting as the senior architecture authority, you will ensure technology investments align with business objectives while creating a modern, composable platform that supports multiple products and services. You'll provide the architectural leadership needed to balance long-term strategy with fast-paced agile delivery, ensuring teams have clear guardrails without unnecessary bureaucracy. This is a highly visible leadership role, partnering with Product, Engineering, Security, Data and Programme Management teams to deliver a unified digital ecosystem that is scalable, interoperable and commercially sustainable.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Define and lead the enterprise architecture strategy, operating model and governance framework.
  • Develop architecture principles, standards, reference architectures and reusable design patterns.
  • Own the target enterprise architecture and ensure technology solutions align with strategic objectives.
  • Chair the Architecture Review Board and oversee architecture decision governance.
  • Provide architectural leadership across cloud platforms, APIs, integration, data architecture, identity management, security and shared enterprise capabilities.
  • Establish enterprise data architecture, including canonical data models, interoperability standards and integration frameworks.
  • Ensure security, resilience, compliance and operational readiness are embedded into solution design.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to support delivery while maintaining architectural consistency across platforms.
  • Advise senior leadership on technology strategy, including cloud adoption, AI capabilities, vendor selection, build-versus-buy decisions and legacy modernisation.
  • Identify architectural risks, technical debt and platform duplication, developing pragmatic solutions that improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Communicate architecture strategy effectively to both technical and executive stakeholders.
CANDIDATE PROFILE

You'll be a pragmatic architecture leader who combines strategic vision with a hands-on understanding of enterprise technology. You'll know how to create governance that enables delivery, not delays it, and you'll have the credibility to influence stakeholders at every level.
  • 10+ years' experience across Enterprise, Solution, Application, Data, Integration, Platform or Cloud Architecture.
  • Proven success defining enterprise architecture strategy for large-scale digital transformation programmes.
  • Experience establishing or developing an enterprise architecture function or centre of excellence.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud-native architecture, ideally within Microsoft Azure environments.
  • Expertise in API-led integration, event-driven architecture, modern application design and enterprise data platforms.
  • Experience modernising legacy technology landscapes and integrating new and existing platforms.
  • A solid understanding of architecture governance, standards, design authority and Architecture Decision Records (ADRs).
  • Experience working within agile, product-led delivery environments.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear business outcomes.
  • Strong commercial awareness and sound technology investment judgement.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience with enterprise low-code platforms such as Mendix.
  • Background within maritime, logistics, fleet management, ERP, asset-intensive or highly regulated industries.
  • Exposure to AI-enabled software delivery and modern digital platform ecosystems.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
