An international Fintech firm is searching for a Platform Engineer to join their team in Malta. You will report to the Platform and Application Security Manager and be responsible for maintaining and developing the suite of cloud based services to engineering teams and to ensure availability of the platform to consumers of the service.
You will also mentor and support more junior members of the team and assist in making strategic decisions regarding the direction of the platform. The ideal candidate will a degree in Computer Science and a minimum of 5 years of experience in DevOps or platform engineering roles. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Engineering Support: Support engineering requests for assistance with platform related changes and pipelines.

DevOps Platform Management: Oversee the administration and enhancement of our DevOps platform, ensuring efficient and secure operations of GitHub, CircleCI, and AWS environments.

AWS Expertise: Develop and maintain a deep understanding of AWS cloud architectures. Leverage AWS tools and services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, CloudWatch) to design and implement scalable, reliable, and secure cloud solutions.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop and maintain infrastructure using CloudFormation and Terraform, ensuring robust, scalable, and maintainable infrastructure solutions.

Containerization and Orchestration: Implement and manage containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes and Helm, including Amazon's offerings like Amazon EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service) and ECS (Elastic Container Service).

Security: Implement and advocate for security best practices across all platform operations, including vulnerability management, access controls, relevant tooling and compliance with industry standards.

Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate and communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including senior management and software engineers, to understand requirements, provide updates, and ensure alignment with business objectives.

Process Improvement: Analyze existing processes and workflows, identifying areas for improvement and driving initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and compliance with fintech industry standards.

Mentorship and Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
CANDIDATE PROFILE

Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or relevant industry experience.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in DevOps or platform engineering roles.

Proven experience with GitHub, CircleCI, AWS, CloudFormation, IaC tooling.

In-depth understanding of AWS cloud architectures and the ability to leverage AWS toolsets effectively.

Hands-on experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, including Amazon EKS and ECS.

Demonstrated experience in applying security best practices in a DevOps environment.

Experience in the fintech industry is highly desirable.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.
